What is a WebP to JPG Converter?
WebP is excellent on the web and still awkward everywhere else. Plenty of desktop software, print workflows, older phones and upload forms will not accept it, which is the usual reason for converting one back.
Drop a WebP and download a JPG, converted on your device.
If the WebP had a transparent background, that transparency is flattened, because JPG cannot store it. Convert to PNG instead when the transparency matters more than the file size.
Frequently asked questions
Why will nothing open my WebP file?
Support outside browsers is patchy. Older versions of Windows Photo Viewer, some print software and many upload forms still reject it, which is why converting to JPG remains useful.
Should I convert to JPG or PNG?
JPG for photographs, and if the WebP has no transparency. PNG if it does, or if the image is a screenshot, logo or anything with text and sharp edges.
Does this reduce quality?
Re-encoding always loses a little. It is rarely visible on photographs at normal quality, and more noticeable on graphics with flat colour and hard edges.
Is anything uploaded?
No. Your browser does the decoding and re-encoding locally.
