What quality setting should I use?
70-85 is the sweet spot for photos: files shrink 60-80% while artifacts stay invisible at normal viewing sizes. Go lower only for thumbnails; go higher only for print-bound images.
Should I compress before or after resizing?
Resize first, then compress — shrinking a 4000px photo to the 1200px you actually display removes far more bytes than quality reduction alone, and the compressor here pairs naturally with our Image Resizer.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Compression happens locally in your browser. The image never leaves your device, which also makes the tool fast.
Does compression reduce quality?
Lossy formats like JPG and WebP trade a little quality for a much smaller file. At quality 70–85 the difference is rarely visible. PNG input converted to WebP or JPG can shrink dramatically.
Is there a file size limit?
