Fractional CTO Services

Senior technical leadership for the decisions that are expensive to get wrong, without a full-time hire.

See What You Get

Senior judgement for the decisions that are hard to undo.

BitsSolved is a software studio in Tamil Nadu, India that provides fractional CTO services: senior technical leadership for architecture, roadmap, security and vendor decisions without a full-time hire. Early technical choices set the cost of everything after them: the architecture, the vendors, what gets built first. Many founders make them alone, or with a developer too close to the work to say no.

You may need a fractional CTO if

  • You are about to commit to an architecture, a vendor or an agency
  • Your developers need someone senior to review designs and proposals
  • The roadmap keeps slipping and nobody can say why
  • Enterprise customers ask technical questions you have to forward
  • A full-time CTO is not affordable, or not needed yet

What the engagement includes.

  • A standing technical advisor

A senior person who knows your product, available for decisions as they come up, on a monthly scope.

  • Written decisions

Each big decision recorded with the options, the trade-offs and the call, so the reasoning outlives the meeting.

  • Design and proposal reviews

Reviews of your team's designs, the changes that matter, and proposals from vendors and agencies.

  • A technical roadmap

What to build, in what order, and what to leave out, checked against what the business needs next.

  • Enterprise readiness

Help preparing the answers enterprise buyers ask about security, data handling and reliability.

The first call is free and is mostly us asking questions.

Advice only, or advice plus delivery by the BitsSolved team. Your choice, per month.

Decisions like these are the job.

KeyNesta is a two factor authenticator BitsSolved built and runs. These calls were made before the code, and they decided what the product could and could not become.

  • Encrypt first, and accept what that costs

Encrypting on the device before sync is the whole product, and it removes options that make a product easier to sell. There is no server side search across entries, no password reset that recovers a vault, and no support process that can read a user’s codes to help them. Every one of those is a feature request that will eventually arrive, and every one of them has to be answered no. Deciding that at the start is much cheaper than deciding it later.

  • Native on both phones, one backend

An authenticator lives in the moments where a person is already irritated: mid login, one hand, thirty seconds on the clock. That is where a wrapped web app is noticeably worse, so both phone apps are native and share one Go backend. The advice is not always this, and on a content or forms product we say so, but here the interaction is the product.

A senior technical leader who works with your company part time, on an agreed scope, instead of as a full-time hire. You get the judgement on architecture, vendors and roadmap without the cost of a permanent executive.

A scope agreed in writing with a fixed monthly quote, after a first conversation about what you need. The scope is reviewed as the company changes.

It can be advice only, or advice plus delivery by the BitsSolved team. If you already have developers, the role is direction and review, not replacing them.

Yes, as your technical advisor: explaining the architecture, the security approach and the roadmap, and preparing answers to technical questionnaires.

Then a SaaS architecture review fits better: a fixed scope, a written report, and no ongoing commitment.
