What is a Photo Cropper?
Drop a photo, drag the selection where you want it and download the cropped result. Nothing is uploaded.
Aspect ratio presets cover the shapes that are actually asked for: square for profile pictures, four by five for feed posts, nine by sixteen for stories, sixteen by nine for banners and thumbnails, three by two for standard photographs.
Cropping to the right shape before you upload is worth the extra step. Platforms that crop for you choose the centre of the image, which is very often not where the subject is, and once a profile picture has been auto cropped badly there is no way to nudge it.
Frequently asked questions
What size should a profile picture be?
Square, and larger than the display size so it stays sharp on high density screens. Most platforms display it as a circle, so keep the subject away from the corners.
Does cropping reduce quality?
No. Cropping removes pixels from the edges and leaves the remaining ones untouched. The output is PNG, which is lossless, so nothing is degraded by the export either.
Can I crop to an exact pixel size?
Crop the shape here, then use the Image Resizer to set exact dimensions. Doing it in that order avoids distorting the picture.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. It is drawn onto a canvas in your browser and cropped there.
